Early
Spider-Man 3 Reviews are Mixed
(April
18, 2007) Early Spider-Man 3 reviews are starting to trickle
in with some critics giving Spider-Man 3, like the franchises
first two movies, high marks. A few, however, are expressing mixed
impressions.
Here
are three quotes from some of the early reviews of the movie:
"...Spider-Man
3 is off the chain... Did Ben just ask the filmmakers behind the
Spider-Man franchise to crank the effects? In the words of the
great producer and studio chief Robert Evans, "You bet your
ass!" The first Spider-Man was back in 2002, and the technology
has exploded since then. They raised the bar the first time around,
and they did it again here..." ~ Ben Lyons, E! Online
"...The
problem is that even Spider-Man’s 'evil' side
is still hopelessly mild-mannered. We are shown a montage of his
sub-Mr Hyde depravities. His hair droops over one eye; he swaggers
along the street; he flirts with passers-by; his girl ditches him;
and he makes an ass of himself in a nightclub. In short, he behaves
like a textbook drunk on any given Saturday night. A horrifying
glimpse into the unspeakable pit of the human soul this is not..." ~ Leo
Lewis, The Times (London)
"...Spider-Man
3 is packed with stunning special effects such as the crumbling,
morphing Sandman and an evil black suit that brings out a person's
dark side, but the characters also show a psychological complexity
rarely seen in action movies...." ~ Sophie
Hardacheo, Reuters
Spider-Man
3 opens worldwide on May 4, 2007 and is expected to be one of the
biggest blockbuster hits of the year.
