Two scenes from
the upcoming movie about television's most popular animated
family, The Simpsons, were shown at Comic Con.
It must be tough being
an animated character. Lead actor on The Simpsons, Homer Simpson,
has starred now in nearly 400 episodes. That makes The Simpsons
the longest running animated show ever. So how do you top that?
On July 27, 2007, 20th Century Fox is releasing The Simpsons
Movie, directed by David Silverman. A teaser for the movie aired
last spring and two scenes from The Simpsons Movie were recently
screened at San Diego Comic Con.
At Comic Con, the first
clip features Homer in a dog sled race where he spends all day
relentlessly whipping the dogs. When they stop to rest for the
night and he removes the harnesses, the dogs turn on Homer,
maul him, then run away, leaving Homer in the middle of nowhere.
"Why does everything
I whip leave me?" Homer exclaims.
The second clip screened
was one where a huge mob is after Homer Simpson at his house
yelling, "we want Homer, we want Homer". Homer tires
to make excuses for not going outside to meet the mob:
Marge: Look what you've
done to us. Our only hope is for you to face that mob and apologize
for what you did.
Homer (looking out the
window at the mob): I would, but I'm afraid if I opened the
door, they'd take all of you.
Voice from the mob: No
we won't, we just want Homer!
The clip also included
a scene of baby Maggie breaking her bottle and holding the sharp
end, ready to face the mob.
The Simpsons animated TV
series was created by Matt Groening back in the 1980's. Nearly
400 episodes later, The Simpsons has garnished a huge cult following
and many awards.
