Just as The Simpson's
television show featured celebrities from film, television,
music and more, The Simpsons Movie celebrity stints shouldn't
disappoint.
Matt Groening's popular
television series, The Simpsons, is being made into a major
motion picture to be released this July. While the crew of the
highly anticipated film, The Simpsons Movie, is keeping quiet
about a lot of the movie details, the television series itself
can lend some insight into at least part of what the movie will
bring to audiences. The movie will feature the original voice
cast, some of the original writers, the same familiar theme
song by Danny Elfman and, just as the television show, celebrity
cameos.
The Simpsons television
series featured dozens of celebrity voices over its 19 year
run (and still going!). In addition to the numerous cameos in
which celebrities voice their own likenesses, many television,
music, and film personalities have leant their vocal talents
to help create members of the Simpsons family, friends, and
colleagues. Here is a short list of just a few of the many famous
voices heard on past Simpsons television show episodes:
Glenn Close - Homer's Mother,
Mona J. Simpson
Danny Devito - Homer's Half-Brother, Herb Powell
Meryl Streep - Bart's Girlfriend, Jessica Lovejoy
Rodney Dangerfield - Burns' illegitimate son, Larry Burns
Michelle Pfeiffer - seductive power plant employee, Mindy Simmons
Dustin Hoffman - Lisa's substitute teacher, Mr. Bergstrom
Winona Ryder - Lisa's school rival, Allison Taylor
Lisa Kudrow - Lisa's cool classmate, Alex Whitney
Steve Martin - Springfields sanitation commissioner
With so many top Hollywood
personalities contributing to the TV show, it is expected that
several familiar voices will pop up throughout the film. There
are already a few famous names listed on the roster for The
Simpsons Movie, including: Minnie Driver (from The Phantom of
the Opera, Good Will Hunting); Albert Brooks (from Mother, Finding
Nemo - he has made several guest appearances on the TV show),
Joe Mantengna (from The Godfather III, Bugsy - the voice of
Fat Tony on the TV show), Kelsey Grammer (famous for his role
on Frasier, plays Sideshow Bob on the TV show), and Erin Brockovich.
As of this article The
Simpsons Movie is still in post-production and information is
subject to change. The Simpsons Movie is expected to hit theaters
July 27, 2007.
