Shrek Background Score Snubbed

(April 20, 2001 - HollywoodLot.com) When DreamWorks animated Shrek movie hits theaters next month, so will the soundtrack to the movie. A soundtrack missing the movie's background score and only focusing on songs that do and don't appear within the movie. Most movies, particularly those expected to be big hits (like Shrek) release the background score of the film. The background score for Shrek was written by Harry Gregson-Williams. It's not known at this time if DreamWorks will change its mind and release a score in the future, but for now fans will have to settle on a soundtrack of songs.

The official title of the soundtrack is "Shrek - Music From The Original Motion Picture" and it will be released on May 15, 2001. The soundtrack creation was overseen by DreamWorks Records executives Michael Ostin, Robbie Robertson and Lenny Waronker and DreamWorks Pictures music supervisor Marylata E. Jacob, all of whom served as executive album producers.
