Narnia Topples King Kong at Box Office |

The Chronicles of Narnia and King Kong battled it out for the number one box office spot during the New Year four day holiday weekend.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe brought King Kong to his knees this weekend during the four-day fight for top holiday box office rankings. The top spot was a close fight, with Kong and Narnia box office revenue separated by less that $2 million.
The Chronicles of Narnia brought in about $32.8 million from Friday through Monday, while King Kong brought in $31.6 million. King Kong was the number one box office money maker over the four day Christmas holiday, bringing in $33.3 million, with Narnia as a close second with $31.7 million. The two films are certainly in a competitive revenue fight.
With Narnia and Kong taking top New Years weekend revenue honors, Fun With Dick and Jane came in third place, bringing in $21 million. Next was Cheaper by the Dozen 2 with $19.3 million an Rumor Has It with $11.6 million. The Family Stone came in sixth with $10.2 million, followed by Memoirs of a Geisha with $10 million. Rounding out the top ten were The Ringer in eighth with $8 million, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with $7.5 million and Munich with $6.1 million.
