While The Aviator received the highest number of Academy Awards, it was Million Dollar Baby that brought home the majority of the high-profile awards, including Best Picture.

Million Dollar Baby garnered four of the six highly coveted awards at the 77th Annual Academy Awards last night.  Although The Aviator received the highest number of Oscars® (five total for film editing, costume design, cinematography, art direction, and best supporting actress for Cate Blanchett’s portrayal of Katharine Hepburn), Million Dollar Baby took home the majority of the high profile awards.

Million Dollar Baby not only won the Oscar® for Best Motion Picture of the Year, the film also garnered three of the main acting awards and the Achievement in Directing Award.  Clint Eastwood was awarded the Oscar® for Achievement in Directing while actress Hillary Swank was given the Oscar® for Best Performance By An Actress in a Leading Role and actor Morgan Freeman received the Best Performance By An Actor In a Supporting Role Award.

Other awards include Best Animated Feature Film going to The Incredibles, Achievement in Writing (Adapted Screenplay) to Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor for Sideways, and Achieving in Writing (Original Screenplay) given to Charlie Kaufman for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
