Along with legendary Leonard Nimoy, television “Hero” Zachary Quinto will portray Mr. Spock in the latest Star Trek motion picture.

At the recent Comic-Con International convention in San Diego, California director/producer J.J. Ambrams made an important announcement regarding the casting of one of the staple characters in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Abrams revealed his first casting for the Star Trek adventure: Zachary Quinto as the young Mr. Spock and, of course, Leonard Nimoy will return to the role he made famous.

Thirty year old Quinto is most recently known as the role of Sylar on NBC’s Heroes television show. Both Quinto and Nimoy made surprise appearances at Comic-Con during the announcement and were greeted with excitement and applause.

During the announcement at the San Diego Convention Center Abrams, producers Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman answered questions from the audience. The new "Star Trek" film will be released on Christmas Day in 2008.
