Eddie Murphy was first widely recognized for his comedic talent during his time as one of the “Not Ready for Prime Time” players on Saturday Night Live.  His success on SNL during the late seventies and early eighties rocket-launched his film career, making his feature film debut as the lead in 48 Hrs., co-starring Nick Nolte.

Other notable film roles include Detective Axel Foley in the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy, Prince Akeem in Coming To America, Professor Sherman Klump in The Nutty Professor and The Nutty Professory II, and the voice of Donkey in Shrek and Shrek 2.  Murphy’s film career extends beyond a long list of acting roles in movies and television to producing credits for several films.
