Justin Chatwin, most recently seen in the thriller The Invisible, first gained interest from the movie-going public for his performance as Tom Cruise’s angst-ridden son in Steven Spielberg’s retelling of the H.G. Wells classic War of the Worlds.
Before his fame, Chatwin studied commerce at the University of British Columbia, but soon decided to try his hand at acting, his true passion, by starting out in commercials. Chatwin soon began to get small parts in films like Josie and the Pussycats and the TV miniseries Steven Spielber’s Taken.
Audiences also got a stronger glimpse of Chatwin’s acting abilities when he starred opposite Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close and Allison Janney in the indie favorite, The Chumscrubber. Chatwin’s previous feature credits also include the Warner Bros. thriller Taking Lives, co-starring Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke.
On the small screen, Chatwin was in the Showtime pilot for “Weeds,” co-starring Mary Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins and had a role on the USA miniseries Traffic, directed by Stephen Hopkins. He has also appeared on the hit television show Lost.
Chatwin is the son of an engineer father and an artist mother, and was born and raised in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
Chatwin will soon be seen in the drama The Pornographer's Poem, currently in production.
