Derek Zoolander is good looking. Really, really, ridiculously good looking. Or so he thinks. The film Zoolander gives a glimpse into the shallow and self-obsessive life of male model Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller). Derek goes through a crisis when he realizes that he has been replaced as the top male model by a new blonde model (Owen Wilson) and subsequently is fired from his modeling agency.
Egotistical Derek, wallowing in his own self pity, does some sole searching as only a male model can and, in a narcissistic attempt at payback, quickly signs a new modeling deal with modeling agent Mugatu (Will Ferrell). What Derek doesn’t realize is that Mugatu is part of a crime gang trying to brainwash him into assassinating the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
With the help of attractive activist reporter Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor) and some modeling buddies, Derek discovers the horrifying secret reason why there are no male models that live past the age of thirty.
The comedy Zoolander, based on a character co-created by Ben Stiller and Drake Sather, for the "VH1 Fashion Awards,” is filled with surprising cameos from celebrity personalities such as Donald Trump, Billy Zane, Tommy Hilfiger, Natalie Portman, Gwen Stefani, and David Bowie.
