 Writer-director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns) draws inspiration from the studio's classic horror properties in this action adventure film entitled Van Helsing.
Set in the late 19th century, Bram Stoker's fabled monster hunter, Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, played by Hugh Jackman, is called to a distant Eastern European land on a quest to vanquish evil characters including Dracula, the Frankenstein monster, and The Wolf Man. The Van Helsing character first appeared onscreen in the seminal 1931 Universal classic Dracula and has since appeared in hundreds of motion picture and theatrical adaptations of Stoker's novel.
In Van Helsing actor Hugh Jackman plays Abraham Van Helsing, Kate Beckinsale is Anna, Richard Roxburg portrays Dracula, David Wenham is Carl, Will Kemp acts as The Wolfman and Shuler Hensley is the Frankenstein Monster.
