An Unfinished Life

An Unfinished Life stars Robert Redford as Einar Gilkyson, a retired rancher who has let his ranch get rundown and his marriage fall into trouble after the death of his son a decade ago. Still in shock from the tradegy of his only son’s death, Einar now spends his time taking care of his only hired hand and only friend Mitch (Morgan Freeman) who is suffering from injuries received from a grizzly bear.

Einar gets an unexpected and unwanted visitor when his daughter-in-law Jean (Jennifer Lopez) comes into town broke and running from the law with a girl named Griff (Becca Gardner). Einar has blamed Jean for the death of his son and is not happy when Jean shows up claiming that Griff is the granddaughter Einar never knew about. The anger and accusations Einar has managed to keep away in his solitude are forced to the surface when Jean returns but 11 year-old Griff’s longing for a father figure and interest in the Western ways of life begin to soften Einar’s heart. Because of Griff, Einar builds a bond he never though he could experience again. Through the unexpected connection between Griff and Einar, a path is opened up for adventure, mercy, and a true reunion.

Lasse Hallstrom (Cider House Rules, Chocolat) serves as director with the screenplay written by Mark Spragg and Virginia Korus Spragg. An Unfinished Life is produced by Alan Ladd Jr., Kelliann Ladd and Leslie Holleran with a strong case that includes Robert Redford, Jennifer Lopez, Morgan Freeman, Josh Lucas, Camryn Manheim, Damian Lewis and Becca Gardner.
