In Taking Lives, a top FBI profiler, Special Agent Illeana Scott (Angelina Jolie) relies on her intuitive, unconventional approach rather than traditional crime-solving techniques to figure out the mind of a mysterious murderer. When Montreal detectives are forced to ask for an outsider’s help to get inside the head of a devious serial killer in order to solve a local homicide investigation, Agent Scott joins the case. With scrupulous insight, she figured out that killer is “life-jacking” – assuming the lives and identities of his victims. As time passes and the pressure to catch the killer mounts, Agent Scott’s uncommon techniques alienate her from a territorial police team that feels threatened by her uncanny abilities. She would prefer to work along but, when an unexpected attraction sparks a complicated romantic entanglement, the specialist begins to doubt her own instincts. Alone in an unfamiliar city with no one she can trust, Agent Scott suddenly finds herself on a twisted and terrifying journey, surrounded by suspects in a case that has become chillingly personal.
