Before the untimely death of singer and actress Aaliyah, she stared as Akasha, queen of the vampires in the dark film adaptation of Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned.

Queen of the Damned was the next major motion picture from vampire novel writer Anne Rice following the cult classic Interview With The Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles. This adaptation of Anne Rice’s best-selling novel again looks in on the vampire Lestat (Stuart Townsend) during current times.

Lestat has reinvented himself as a rock star in the contemporary American music scene. Through his music, Akasha (Aaliyah), the queen of all vampires, is awakened. Lestat’s music inspires her desire to make Lestat her king. Queen Akasha’s malevolent power is so great that all the immortal vampires must stand against her if they want to survive.

While the battle between vampires ensues, a young London woman with a fascination for the dark side (Marguerite Moreau) is also falling in love with Lestat.
