 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is a rollicking live-action adventure produced by Jerry Bruckjeimer and starring such key actors as Johnny Depp and Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush. Depp plays Captain Jack Sparrow, a roguish yet charming sea lover whose ship is abruptly stolen by arch nemesis, Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Barbossa not only steals Sparrow’s ship, he also attacks the town of Port Royal, kidnapping the Governor’s (Jonathan Pryce) attractive daughter, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). Sparrow and Elizabeth’s childhood friend, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), seize the HMS Interceptor, the fastest ship in the British fleet, in an attempt to rescue the Governor’s daughter and recapture the Black Pearl. Barbossa and his crew are transformed by a curse into undead, living skeletons, haunting Sparrow and Turner upon each moonlight. Attempts to break the curse involve the restoration of a sunken treasure and several battles with Barbossa and his invincible pirates of the Caribbean.
