Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti) is a quiet, keeps-to-himself, apartment superintendent in Philadelphia who rescues a young lady named Story (Bryce Dallas Howard) from the pool in his building. He comes to find out that she isn’t what she seems. She is actually a “narf,” a character from a bedtime story, who is trying to return home. Dark, vicious creatures are doing everything they can to keep her in our world while Cleveland and the apartment tenants work to keep her safe and unlock the codes that keep her trapped. Cleveland and the tenants must use their special powers brought out in them by Story in order to save her world, as well as their own.
Lady in the Water is a film distributed by Warner Bros. It is directed by M. Night Shyamalan (also known for The Village, Signs, Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense) who is also the screenwriter. The film is set to open on July 21st, 2006.
