George A. Romero's Land of the Dead comes from a director who some say invented the horror genre. Romero was not only the mastermind behind Night of the Living Dead, but also continued his cryptic look into evil with the films Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.
In his latest horror flick, Romero delivers us a disturbing look into a modern-day world full of dead zombies roaming around outside the walls of a fortified city, while the living trying to lead normal lives inside the city walls. A group of enterprising, ruthless opportunists have created a new society, hiding themselves high up in the towers of a skyscraper, away above the city that exists below them. But, what they do not realize is that another new society is also forming outside the city walls…an army of the dead. As anarchy ensues inside the city, a group of hardened mercenaries is called upon to protect the living from an army of the dead.
George A. Romero's Land of the Dead is written and directed by Romero and stars Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, Asia Argento and Robert Joy. The film is produced by Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann and Peter Grunwald.
