A teen outcast who thought she would never be part of the popular crowd risks everything to pursue her dreams of figure skating in Ice Princess.  Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, EuroTrip) stars as Casey Carlyle, the brainy bookworm who gives up a life devoted to schoolwork for a new world of axels, sit spins, and cutthroat competition as she finds herself in the unlikely position of skating for the gold.

Casey’s hard-working single mom (Joan Cusack) is determined to get her daughter into Harvard and has her on the fast track toward accomplishing this goal.  Casey has been working hard at school trying to please her mom and as part of her studies Casey decides to do a report on the physics of figure skating.  Casey, who has fantasized about becoming an Olympic champion ever since she skated on her backyard pond when she was a little girl, is excited and nervous when she has the chance to meet the elite skaters at her local rink for the school project.  While studying figure skating from a physics perspective Casey comes up with a physics formula that is a sure fire way to accomplish a difficult skating move.  Her discovery helps her to become a skating prodigy.

She gets the chance to train with champion-in-the-making Gen Harwood (Hayden Panettiere) and Gen’s famously tough coach and mother, Tina (Kim Cattrall).  While training Casey gets a crash course in the glamour, sweat and tears of skating competitions, but also gets her first taste of romance as she falls for Gen’s teenage brother, the rink’s Zamboni driver, Teddy (Trevor Blumas). Casey’s confidence begins to soar—but with the big championship looming, she is about to find out if she really has what it takes to leave her old life behind and truly become an Ice Princess.

Ice Princes also brings to the big screen such world-class athletes as five-time World Figure Skating Champion Michelle Kwan and Olympic Gold Medalist Brian Boitano in cameo roles.
