Introducing the Dwights is a heartfelt comedy about a mother who is having difficulty coming to terms with the fact that her son is becoming a man. Jean tries to come between her son Tim and his inevitable coming of age.
Jean is a bawdy and risqué comedienne with hopes of making it big, even after all these years, with the help of her other son Mark. Mark helps his mom as she rehearses for shows. Jean, Mark and Tim are the epitome of a non-traditional household used to chaos, conflict, and emotion. Jeans larger-than-life personality takes center stage often in the house.
But, when Tim meets and falls for Jill, his home becomes a combat zone as his mother fears that Jill, although she never claims to remember her name, will break up the unique family that has remained bonded through tough and trying times. Throughout this quirky story, Tim has to learn how to deal with the emotions of the two women of his life – his raucous mom and his assertive girlfriend – while still keeping in touch with his own emotions.
Introducing the Dwights (also known as Clubland), directed by Cherie Nowland, stars Brenda Blethyn, Khan Chittenden, Emma Booth and Richard Wilson.
