The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is based on C.S. Lewis’ classic adventure that follows the adventures of Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter Pevensie in World War II England.  The four siblings enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of “hide-and-seek” in the rustic country home of an elderly professor. Once in Narnia, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants.  The peaceful world has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch. With the advice and guidance of the lion Aslan (Liam Neeson), a noble and mystical ruler, the children fight to overcome the White Witch’s powerful hold over Narnia.  The battle begins in hopes of freeing Narnia from the White Witch’s icy spell forever.

The film marks the first live-action directorial effort for New Zealander Andrew Adamson (Shrek, Shrek 2).  Adamson also co-wrote the screenplay adaptation with Anne Peacock (HBO’s A Lesson Before Dying) and scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.  The film is produced by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Mark Johnson.  Cinematographer Donald McAlpine, A.S.C., A.C.S, production designer Roger Ford, costume designer Isis Mussenden, film editors Sim Evan-Jones and Jim May and composer Harry Gregson-Williams are also working on the film adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ novel.
