When he was granted an admission spot desired by several into the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Jake Huard (James Franco) thought all his dreams had come true.  Little did he realize that his battle to become the man he inspires to be is only just beginning.

A regular kid from a poor blue collar family, Jake worries about whether or not he can make it in the tense competitive atmosphere of the Academy.  Barely making the grade as a Freshman “plebe,” Jake is desperate to fit in and has one last shot to prove he has what it takes to become an officer in an institution that boasts a 137-year history of strict and focused discipline and excellence.   In his last ditch effor, Jake decides to enter the Brigate Championships, a notoriously fierce Navy boxing competition.  There he has a chance to face off against his arch-nemesis, Midshipman Lt. Cole (Tyrese Gibson).

The pride of his father, the faith of his lieutenant, and his acceptance as part of the Academy are all at stake in Annapolis.  Directed by indie director Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow), comes this comeback story of a courageous young sailor who discovers that some opportunities in life are worth fighting for. Those cast as Jake’s fellow classmates include Jordana Brewster as the tough-but-alluring female commander who helps to train Jake; Donnie Wahlberg as Lt. Cmdr. Burton, the officer who first decides to take a chance on Jake; and Chi McBride as the boxing coach who takes Jake from amateur swinger to focused warrior.
