Garden State: Soundtrack Review
Posted by: Ruthie Wyatt print this page
An unexpected mass following behind the film Garden State may make the soundtrack hard to find but it is worth the search.

Label: Epic/Sony Soundtrax

Awards:  The Garden State Soundtrack won the 2005 Grammy in the category of "Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For A Motion Picture, Television or Media"

Tracks:

01 - Coldplay - Don't Panic

02 - The Shins - Caring Is Creepy

03 - Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line

04 - The Shins - New Slang

05 - Colin Hay - I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You

06 - Cary Brothers - Blue Eyes

07 - Remy Zero - Fair

08 - Nick Drake - One Of These Things First

09 - Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde

10 - Simon & Garfunkel - The Only Living Boy In New York

11 - Iron And Wine - Such Great Heights

12 - Frou Frou - Let Go

13 - Bonnie Somerville - Winding Road

Obtaining the Garden State Soundtrack was not easy as the film company didn’t anticipate a mass following. Turns out they were dead wrong.  My local music store couldn’t order enough copies to fulfill demands of eager movie goers.

Needless to say writer, director, and star of the film, Zach Braff, executive produced one hell of a soundtrack to boot. Songs from groups like The Shins, Zero 7, Thievery Corporation, Iron and Wine, and Frou Frou give this story the twinkle in its eye. Best of all the songs play in order so the essence of the film is kept in it’s original Garden State.
